Thank you for volunteering to be a part of the new VERTIGO music video for “Nomad”. We are making a collection of fan-made videos from countries around the world featuring iconic monuments or places that are unique to their own location, but also themes that they all have in common. These videos will be edited together and projected onto the band performing against a projection screen. The goal is for this collection of videos to express a message of diversity, but interconnectivity all across the world.
This video allows the viewer to see all around the world primarily through the view of a window in first person. It makes you feel like you’re waking up and looking out a window in Iceland or Japan.
For our video, we will do something similar. You will film your part of the world from your Point-Of-View (primarily not showing your face) so that it feels like we are there with you!
The following list is a guideline for everyone’s videos, have fun!
Using a video camera - venture out into your community, into the surrounding nature, and film yourself and the unique environment you live in. Use the photo references and checklist on this page to get the basic ideas of what you need to cover, and feel free to get creative; throw in a few extra bonus shots if you like.
FILM THE FOLLOWING!
• Yourself writing your city and country with chalk (on a wall or a sidewalk) MAKE SURE TO HOLD THE SIGN CLOSE TO THE CAMERA FOR AT LEAST 4 SECONDS • Something iconic that most people around the world can recognize (Your city skyline, a monument, landscapes, etc.) • Something visually interesting that most people outside of your country wouldn’t know about. An activity or a place is important, cool or fun (subway performers, a carnival in town, a wild population of animals that live in your area, neighborhood kids playing fútbol, etc.)
• Your feet as you walk down a populated street in your town - then show the street • Driving main road in your area • Finally your face up against a blank wall (See below for examples)
AND HAVE FUN!
TIPS & GUIDELINES
Be sure to film all videos in horizontal / landscape mode. Any videos shot in vertical / portrait mode will not be used.
Keep your shots well contained. It is better to upload a variety of shorter videos than a few long videos with everything spread out.
Use descriptive file names for each video upload including your name and the subject of the video file.
For the main shots -
Jane Doe - Writing NYC
Jane Doe - NYC Skyline
Jane Doe - Subway Performers
Jane Doe - Walking
Jane Doe - Driving
Jane Doe - Face
Use the same format for any additional shots you may decide to include.
